An Exciting RSS Feed Adventure

RSS technology is rapidly advancing, allowing internet users more possibilities than ever before. One fantastic example of expanding technology is the development of RSS feeds and RSS readers. As a tech savvy student, I sometimes find it impossible to keep track all the sites I like to visit. After understanding RSS feeds, I have learned how they can organize my life, keep my informed, save me time, and RSS feeds can even make me money! But before RSS technology can transform the way you use the internet, you need to understand what the orange dots and letters RSS mean.

The easiest way to understand the RSS technological phenomenon is to view an RSS news reader as an electronic scrapbook. By understanding and making use of RSS feed technology, you can log into just one website (your RSS reader) when you go online, and see all of your favorite stories, updates, pictures, and blogs at a single glance. When I log into my favorite RSS reader, I see stories from my local newspaper, updates from the best blogs, and pictures my friends have posted on their personal websites.

So how can you use RSS to organize your life, and even save time? Simple, just follow the steps I will lay out to begin creating your electronic scrapbook using RSS reading technology. Just like in a scrapbook, you open a page and see a variety of different mementos and pictures all about a topic. In the case of an RSS subscription, the topic is things you like to read about. When you surf through the net, building your RSS Reader subscriptions is an easy task to accomplish.

Step 1: Select an RSS Reader.

Great search engines like Yahoo and Google (GoogleReader) offer an RSS reader which is readily available by visiting their websites. Other RSS readers include Newsgator, Pluck, FeedDemon, Internet Explorer 7, and many others!

Each of these RSS sites has unique features to offer their readers. The RSS reader GoogleReader can be accessed off-line. This feature will allow you to catch up on your favorite articles, wherever you may be. Some RSS subscriptions upload every time your computer makes a connection to the Internet.

Take some time to investigate a variety of RSS readers, and select the site that best accommodates your needs. Always read for more updates for following time saving steps and tricks with your newly selected RSS reader!
